Welcomed in 2018 as an intern during my gap year, this community-centered role was a crash course on nonprofit arts spaces. From intern I was promoted to Programs Assistant and worked across the Curatorial, Marketing, and Education departments lead by LCA’s Director Janet Bloch.
During my eighteen months, I conducted dozens of gallery tours, developed exhibition research, the center’s fist exhibition catalog, educational programs, installed local artist galleries, gained retail experience in the Gallery Shop, assisted in the center’s annual arts festival and fundraising auction, among many other meaningful tasks. At LCA I shadowed then curator, visual artist, Lora Fosberg; contributing to exhibitions “Warhol: Icon & Influence,” “Waiting for A Sign,” “Nature vs. Everything,” and “The Chicago Imagists: Before & After.” I was exposed to the possibilities of arts education by LCA’s former Education Director, Hannah Hammond-Hagman and worked closely with Marketing Director, Kyle Murphy.
