The pop-up exhibition, BLACK WOMEN BEEN CALLED MANY THINGS was curated by ming joi on the occasion of her 2022 graduation from Spelman College. Inspired by poet Sonia Sanchez’s “Queens of the Universe,” this 8 person group show presented three newly commissioned photo series alongside figurative drawings, paintings, and collage works, each musing on Black womanhood, the power of education, the Black family, and ming's personal and academic interests.
